Facebook Reaches 1 Billion Active Monthly Users
Facebook Now Has 1 Billion Active Monthly Users!
On Thursday (4th October 2012) Facebook made it official through its newsroom blog that it had reached 1 billion active monthly users.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO and Founder shared the news with the rest of the world via the social networks official blog that:
“This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month.
If you’re reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you.
Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.
I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too.”
Facebook Took 8 Years To Reach 1 Billion Active Monthly Users
Facebook’s 8 year journey to reaching 1 billion active monthly users has been a gradual one and they first reached the 100 million active monthly users mark in 2008 and just in July 2012, they had 955 million active users. They have so far gained an additional 45 million active monthly users over the past 3 months and this ladies and gentlemen is no small task.

Despite Facebook breaking the 1 billion active monthly users’ barrier, it’s still struggling to raise its share price in the stock market. It had earlier on anticipated a $38 share price index but now the price has almost reduced by $12 which has seen many investors seeking greener pastures. The main reason why its share price has fallen is because Facebook has had a couple of challenges tapping into its mobile users who comprise of majority of the 1 billion active monthly users but Facebook is set to try and tap into its mobile market and this could see its share price going up.
