Timothy Sykes is an American investor and entrepreneur whose main specialty of trade is penny stock trading and he’s most famous for becoming a self-made millionaire by the age of 21 as a result of growing his $12,415 Bar Mitzvah gift money into $1.65 million in just 3 years (from 1999-2002) through trading thousands of penny stocks while pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from Tulane University.

Timothy Sykes was born in 1981 in Orange, Connecticut and he attended Tulane University where he majored in Philosophy and minored in Business in 2003.

While still in Tulane University, Timothy Sykes often skipped classes in favor of trading penny stocks and this saw him becoming a millionaire by the age of 21 as a result of growing his $12,415 Bar Mitzvah gift money into $1.65 million in just 3 years (from 1999-2002).

In 2003 during his senior year, Sykes founded Cilantro Fund Management LLC; a hedge fund that was based in New York City and which was ranked the first Short Bias Hedge Fund from 2003-2006 by Barclay Hedge before it closed in late 2007 after losing 35% of its value due to an illiquid investment he made by trying long term investing rather than trading. He was featured in Trader Monthly’s ‘Top 30 Under 30′ in 2006.

While still feeling depressed and embarrassed due to prematurely closing his hedge fund, Timothy Sykes appeared in 5 of the 6 episodes of “Wall Street Warriors” after a TV producer asked him to make an appearance in his then upcoming documentary.

The Wall Street Warriors became quite popular and it inspired many people who wrote Sykes hundreds of emails on a daily basis wanting to know more about him and his trading strategies but because he was a hedge fund manager, Sykes was not allowed to answer any of his viewers questions and this prompted him to go against the hedge fund industry’s status-quo by not only making public his trading tactics but also writing a book titled “An American Hedge Fund”  where he detailed all his experiences as a hedge fund manager as well as publishing financial newsletters and instructional DVD packages. Wall Street Warriors has since then been aired in more than 20 countries.
