The total gross of the Top 100 Highest Grossing Movies of all time sums up to $76,711.30 million or $76.711 Billion if you like. The total gross for the domestic and overseas audience is as follows:

Total domestic gross-$29,251.6 Million or $29.251 Billion

Total overseas gross-$47,459.7 Million or $47.460 Billion

There are however there are a couple of things that you need to keep in mind concerning the above list:

  • The Top 100 Highest Grossing Movies of all time figures are merely estimates and might not reflect the exact amounts.
  • The Top 100 Highest Grossing Movies of all time list is purely made up of gross profit and not net profit.
  • The Top 100 Highest Grossing Movies of all time estimates are arrived at by using the all time box office figures. This means it’s the legal amount of money collected from ticket sales that was calculated rather than from purchase of pirated movies.
  • Some of the movies in the Top 100 Highest Grossing Movies of all time list are still showing in cinemas both in the US and overseas hence some movies might be displaced on the list.
  • These are the official figures released by the box office

It’s important to note that the first 2 movies i.e. Avatar and Titanic were produced by the same producer-James Cameron. This just goes to show who’s who when it comes to rating movie directors in Hollywood.

We can go ahead and hypothesize that the Top 10 Highest Grossing Movies of all time i.e. those in the top 10 position might be there for some time to come.
