Learn How The Amazon Associates Program Works
The Amazon Associates Program as earlier on mentioned in our introductory post is Amazons official affiliate program aimed at helping bloggers and other publishers to monetize their online properties by selling either digital or physical products found in Amazon which is currently the largest E-Commerce site in the world.
As with any other affiliate program, publishers’ first need to register as affiliates in the Amazon Associates Program then look for products to sell before they can make any money and this is what we shall be looking at in the paragraphs to follow though I won’t really go into much detail concerning the program and how it works now that it’s all self-explanatory; I’ll just talk lightly about it.
Amazon Associates Program: Steps To Follow
1. You first need to register in Amazon Associates Program. You can do that here
2. Once you’ve registered and confirmed your account, you then need to log into your Amazon Associates Program account.
3. On the central part of the page (i.e. excluding sidebars), you should be able to see 2 options i.e.
- Search for a product
- Browse for a product
4. You should also be able to see “Link & Banners” and “Widgets” among others on the header part of the page as well as a couple of “Best Selling Products” on the lower part of the page.
How The Amazon Associates Program Works
What essentially happens is that publishers can advertise select products which are relevant to their niches and this is by:
- Using product links e.g. you can build a link to a specific page in Amazon using their tools
- Using banner links e.g. you can have rotating banners on your site
- Using widgets e.g. you can let your readers find and explore interesting products from Amazon without them leaving your site.
Word Of Caution On Using The Amazon Associates Program
- Ensure you only promote products which are relevant to your niche to avoid pissing of your readers.
- Ensure that you fill out your payment method in your account settings section.
- Don’t place too many links be they product link, banner links or even widgets on your site. You need to remember that what brought people to your site was your content and not your product links.
