Here’s How To Use Blog Spam Comments To Your Advantage
If you happen to own a blog then there’s a good chance you’ve had to deal with one of the most irritating menaces that comes along with being a blogger and this involves spammers who go around spreading blog spam comments aimed at trying to direct traffic to their sites or to make sales from the bogus products they promote in their comment links.
From experience, I know that blog spam comments can really be a pain in the @$$ especially when you have hundreds of them (some still do manage to see the light of day even when you use anti-spam software such as Akismet) but if they’ve been driving you crazy, then I’ve got some good news that can turn the tables to your favor and this involves using blog spam comments to your site’s advantage.
But How Can Blog Spam Comments Be Beneficial To You & Your Blog?
Well, the answer is quite simple:
They can make you look popular IF properly published hence boost the confidence that people have in you and your blog.
Here’s What I Mean By Properly Published…
Caution: This may sound a little bit like a “Blackhat” technique but hey, at the end of the day it’s all about reputation…I think 🙂
I mean that you should “edit” the blog spam comments from your blog’s admin panel by making them a bit relevant to what you wrote in your post or what you blog’s theme is generally about.
Let me however clarify that you shouldn’t (but still can) go about editing all the blog spam comments but only those which according to your judgment are a bit relevant to what you were talking about or what your blog’s theme is.
My advice for the blog spam comments that are way out of topic would be to delete them as editing them to meet your needs just doesn’t cut it at the end of the day but if it will make you “sleep at night” (which I highly doubt) then feel free.
Last Word On How To Use Blog Spam Comments To Your Blog’s Advantage
At the end of the day blogging comes down to three things:
- Having content-That’s why it’s called blogging
- Directing targeted traffic to your content-Your potential customers
- Having something that can sell- Something that your target audience can buy
Although blog spam comments can be irritating, they on the other hand can help you to look popular among your readers (When people see others commenting on your posts) and this in the end increases the level of confidence that your readers have towards your blog which means you’ll be closer to making a sale “tomorrow”.
Remember that at the end of the day “crowd mentality” is what makes people open up hence when they see others commenting then they will also start commenting and you can start to delete your blog spam comments now that you have genuine commentators.
NB: You can use the “Recent Comments” and “Top Commentators” Widgets to show your blog’s comments
As always, feel free to share what your thoughts are on using blog spam comments to your advantage; I’d certainly love to hear from you!
