Alijan Ibragimov is a self-made billionaire and a Uzbekistan-born Uzbek oligarch. He’s also a member of a well-known circle of oligarchs in Kazakhstan known as the “Trio”.
The “Trio” comprises of Alijan Ibragimov and his two business partners; Alexander Mashkevich and Patokh Chodiev. The “Trio” are active players in the mining, oil & gas, and banking sectors in Kazakhstan.

Along with business partners and lifelong friends, Alexander Machkevich and Patokh Chodiev (they’re both billionaires), Alijan
Ibragimov was able to build Eurasian Natural Resources Co. (ENRC) in the 1990’s. ENRC is a metal and mining empire that is the world’s leading natural resources groups (It is the biggest manufacturer of Ferrochrome which is is one of the ingredients used in the manufacture of stainless steel).
ENRC has since expanded its operations and the company has been exploring the sale of international assets.
In December 2012, ENRC bid $550 million for the remaining 49.5% of Camrose Resources that it didn’t yet own. In so doing, the “Trio” bought out the stake of Israeli billionaire Dan Gertler (Dan Gertler is an Israeli born businessman and founder and President of the DGI (Dan Gertler International) Group of Companies. He has large interests in diamonds and copper mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), formerly Zaire; the largest country in sub-Saharan Africa).
ENRC operates a number of metal assets in Kazakhstan and in Africa. Over time it has acquired numerous mining operations in Eastern Europe and in Asia.
The company was floated on the London Stock Exchange in December 2007, with a market capitalisation on Admission of approximately £6.8 billion. In 2009, ENRC generated a profit of $1,462 million based on sales worth $3.8 billion.
Being one of the biggest companies in Kazakhstan, the Eurasian National Resources Corporation employs over 67,000 employees.
Alijan Ibragimov also has investments in several industries across Kazakhstan which includes but is not limited to; mining, oil & gas, and banking.

Aside from being a smart business magnate, Alijan Ibragimov is devout Muslim with 6 sons. He moved to Kazakhstan when they (i.e. the “Trio”) decided to pursue business interests there.

As of March 2013, Alijan Ibragimov is the 3rd richest man in Kazakhstan and is ranked 704 in Forbes rich list of Billionaires (He was number 418 in 2012)
