Jodean Bottom was born on 29th February 1964, in Amadora, Portugal, to John Lee Bottom and his then-girlfriend, Trinity.
Details are however sketchy about her mother’s real identity.
Her father, fled to Canada before her birth, for fear of being recruited into the army to fight in the famous Vietnam War.
As a result, Jodean Bottom never really got a chance to have a relationship with her father.
It was much later in her life that her late younger famous brother, River Phoenix, took it upon himself to bring her home when he discovered he had a half-sister.

Jodean Bottom: Her Family’s Dark Past As Members Of A Cult
Jodean Bottom’s family were followers of the Children of God, a cult headed by a rogue preacher called David Brandt Berg.
Her half-father, stepmother and half-siblings settled in Caracas, Venezuela where the Children of God had stationed them to work as missionaries and fruit gatherers.
According to Vanity Fair, River Phoenix was raped at the age of four.
In addition to there being allegations of child sexual abuse within the cult, members also engaged in sexual practices, including “flirty fishing”.
This involved female followers being ordered to have sex with men in order to bring them into the cult.
In 1979, David Brandt Berg reported that “flirty fishers” had added 19,000 members to the group’s ranks. “It was religious prostitution,” one of Berg’s daughters told Timeline in 2017.
