Regret Is A Poor Chisel For Carving Out Your Tomorrow
Regret
I must we admit we (myself included) find ourselves in various circumstances in our everyday lives where instead of looking forward, we’re busy turning our heads back with one question in mind “What if I ….”, and in most cases we end up wasting a lot of time thinking about what we could have done differently if given another chance instead of living our present lives better than we lived our past.
The truth of the matter is that regret/regrets has never and will never change the past but rather it’ll darken and slowly kill the future. One will end up living in a regret cocoon and before he/she knows it, years will have passed and sadly enough, time cannot be rewound no matter how much one wishes it so and this again gives rise to another set of regrets and the cycle goes on and on.
How To Overcome Regret
Personally one of the best ways in which I overcome regret/regrets is by use of one very simple quote I came across a couple of years back and though I can’t quite recall the author, it goes something like-“Don’t cry over split milk, instead go milk another cow”. It’s a very simple statement but it has a lot to offer when countering regret/regrets.
There will always be a time when things don’t go as planned (split milk) but even then, it’s important to always remember that there’s always another cow to be milked and just because you might not see it, it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist-you just need to look a little harder because you never know, it might even be “grazing in the fields” while you’re seated there bound with regret/regrets expecting a miracle to happen.
