The Carpenter
There was once a carpenter who was aspiring to retire and like any good employee, he shared with his employer that he was no longer was interested in the construction business and that he planned to spend the rest of his life with his wife and kids.
The news shocked his employer since the carpenter had always worked hard and despite trying to persuade him to continue working even with an increase in pay, the carpenter still stood his ground saying time had come for him to move on.
Realizing he could not change his mind, the employer asked the carpenter to build him one last house and to the best of his abilities since this would be his last house to build; he desired it to be the best house the carpenter had ever built and afterwards he would never bother him again
The carpenter realizing his employer would not leave him in peace without building this last house went about dragging himself to the workmanship and used the cheapest construction materials to build the house. This was by far the worst house the carpenter had ever built.
When the carpenter had finished “building the house”, the employer paid a visit to check out the house and being content with how it looked on the outside without going inside, he gave the keys to the house to the carpenter saying “It’s yours, this is the reward for your honesty and dedication for all the years you’ve worked for me”
The carpenter couldn’t hold back his tears as he thought to himself “If only I had known it earlier that it was my house, I would have built it far much better than this!”
Moral Of The Story?
You are the architect of your own life so remember that however you decide to build it, you and you alone shall be the one to live in it-Don’t build for yourself what you’ll regret later.
