Alcoholic Primate Goes For Rehabilitation

Drinking and smoking brings along with them various health vices in the long run e.g. liver and lung cancer and drinking in particular has been restricted to adults aged 21 in the USA and 18 in Kenya and above. Several initiatives have been launched in many countries around the world prompting people not to drink and drive but what if the individual in question happens to be a primate? Well this is why one Zhora was taken into a rehabilitation center 2 years ago to try and free him from his alcohol and cigarette dependency. Zhora is a chimp located in one of Russia’s zoos and he became addicted to alcohol and cigarettes thanks to the influence of tourists who often gave them to him over the fence despite the zoo’s management asking people not to. “We asked visitors not to give him [alcohol and cigarettes], but it was all in vain,” the deputy head of Rostov zoo, Nadezhda Yeutushenko, said. Yeutushenko also told the Russian press that Zhora was kept behind three rows of fences, but visitors still managed to throw him alcohol and cigarettes. It is also said that Zhora would beg the visitors for the goodies…..
